Abstract

In the interwar period, the potential of the family in Poland was appreciated by politicians (representatives of the two political movements, i.e. the Endecja – supporters of national education and the Sanacja – proponents of state education), as well as teachers, scholars and socio-educational activists. They perceived the family as an important socio-cultural and educational environment, on which the multifaceted development of children and youth depends, and thus the successful future of the nation and the state. Therefore, they strongly emphasized the need to support the family and strengthen its cooperation with the school, which was to contribute to educational success. This article presents the educational ideals propagated in Poland in the interwar period and the role attributed to the family and its cooperation with school in realizing these ideals.
