This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of educational literature from 1976 to 2025, revealing significant research output and impact trends. The findings indicate a period of low article production from the late 1970s to the early 2000s, with notable citation peaks in 1981 and 1986. However, since the 2010s, there has been a marked increase in published articles, accompanied by a decline in average citations per article, suggesting a saturation of literature. The keyword co-occurrence analysis high lights a shift from historical perspectives to emerging themes such as rural education and gender issues, particularly from 2012 onward. The study identifies a well-defined hierarchy in which the «history of education» cluster remains central, underscoring its foundational role in the field. In contrast, the period from 2016 to 2025 exhibits diversification in research inquiries, with new clusters emerging around case studies and qualitative approaches. Despite this diversification, the analysis reveals a lack of significant citation spikes in newer topics, indicating potential stagnation. Overall, this research underscores the dynamic evolution of educational literature, emphasizing the need for ongoing inquiry into contemporary themes and their relevance in addressing current educational challenges. Future studies should enhance the visibility and impact of emerging topics within this increasingly saturated academic landscape.
