This work intends to propose some historiographical reflections on the role of the first monastic rules in the educational field starting from the contents of a recent volume by Luca Odini. In particular, we focus on the role of monasticism which is interpreted not only as a spiritual or institutional phenomenon, but as a structured educational experience, capable of offering a systematic response to the search for meaning and order that runs through man’s existence.
