Abstract

This paper reconstructs the origins and evolution of the journal «Studi di Storia dell’Educazione», which was founded in 1980 by Fabrizio Ravaglioli in collaboration with the publisher Armando. During its 15 years of publication, the magazine has successfully maintained two components that are both useful for constructing an alternative History of education to the History of pedagogy: both openness towards “otherness”, represented by scholars from the Italian political left, and the construction of an alternative cultural paradigm closer to conservative liberalism.
