The first part of the article briefly illustrates the different aspects in which the contribution to the studies of the history of education in Rome offered by Giacomo Cives can be considered: from scientific contributions on the educational and university institutions of the Capital to the teaching and promotion of research carried out as professor of History of Pedagogy at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. The second part of the article offers a synthetic reconstruction of Francesco Susi’s research activity. Susi’s studies mainly address issues related to the history of the Italian school, lifelong learning and intercultural education.
