History of education, Luciano Pazzaglia, Giorgio Chiosso;, Italy, XX CenturyAbstract
This contribution focuses on the origins and distinctive developments that, starting in the early 1980s, have characterized historical-educational and school-related research within the Catholic area. In particular, the author begins with the renewal of historical-pedagogical studies that took place in Italy as early as the 1950s and 1960s, as evidenced by some pioneering and innovative publications from that period. He then concentrates specifically on the choices and work of the research group centered around Luciano Pazzaglia and the historians of education and schooling at the Catholic University of Milan, as well as on the group initiated by Giorgio Chiosso and his collaborators at the University of Turin. The author delves into the specific nature of their respective projects and the role these research groups played in the renewal of historical-pedagogical studies from the 1980s onward.
