The essay reconstructs the role played by Florence and its educational tradition at various levels (institutional, editorial, and university), especially in the fifty years between the end of the twentieth century and the first twenty years of the twentyfirst century: a period in which the cultural role, with respect to children’s literature, was both changing and keeping alive a true educational commitment in this area of growth and cultivation of the child’s mind.
