The main objective of this research, framed within the History of Women’s Education, is to contrast changes and continuities in the female imaginary included in the audiovisual documents of the NO-DO (Newsreels and Documentaries) during the decade of the seventies of the 20th century, the first half of which corresponded to the Franco dictatorship, and the second to the transition to democracy. The research methodology combines critical analysis of verbal discourse with audiovisual analysis techniques. The results point to a continuity throughout the period in the visual representation of women (qualities, professions...), but, during the Transition, there is a clear decrease in verbal messages tending to perpetuate the classic female stereotypes.
