The contribution is a review of the recent book by Mattia Sanna Montanelli, Heritage Crowdsourcing. Processi di qualità nella ricerca partecipata per il patrimonio archeologico italiano (Quingentole: SAP Società Archeologica, 2024, 180 pp.), on participatory archaeology, understood as an approach that actively involves local communities in the research and enhancement of cultural heritage. The goal is to ensure democratic access to culture, allowing people to contribute to the understanding and preservation of both material and immaterial heritage. The concept also includes a thorough methodological reflection to refine research techniques, integrating the scientific aspect with the needs of the communities. In this way, heritage helps build an identity link between the past and the present.
