Abstract

This article examines several medieval adaptations of the Sleeping Beauty tale type, including Perceforest, Blandin de Cornoalha, Roman de Bleris, and Frayre de Joy e Sorde Plazer. A gender-based analysis, focusing on the female character, is complemented by an anthropological perspective centered on the figure of the savior/rapist, who, in order to reach Sleeping Beauty, undertakes an initiatory journey involving the domestication of death.
