About the Journal

Focus and Scope

We invite contributions on the literary production from the Middle Ages to modernity, without any restrictions on the methodology employed. Polythesis will privilege proposals that strive to combine specialist knowledge with the ambition to contribute to a wider theoretical and comparatist framework capable of furthering a cross-sectoral dialogue.

Research areas include, but are not limited to:

-          Philology and philosophy: an epistemological dialogue

-          Imitation / mimesis: new perspectives

-        Anthropology of literature / Literary anthropology: / Textual anthropology:  defining a field

-          Middle Ages and Postmodern: affinities and comebacks

-          Re-functionalisation of myths, archetypes, figures, motifs

-          Problems and methodologies of translation in an intercultural perspective

-          Transformations and contaminations of literary genres

-          Storytelling and performance

-          Romance philology, a comparative approach for Europe

Polythesis is an on-line open-access journal published on the OJS platform of the University of Macerata (http://riviste.unimc.it/index.php/polythesis/) and is issued once a year. Articles in Italian, English and French are accepted.  Submitted contributions will undergo a double-blind peer review in accordance with the procedures described on the journal website. The papers should be 50.000 characters long (including spaces), and should comply with the typographic guidelines available on the journal website.

Proposals should be submitted as an email attachment to the address redazione.polythesis@unimc.it.

 

Peer Review Process

Polythesis. Filologia, interpretazione e teoria della letteratura uses double-blind peer review for the articles submitted for publication. The book reviews are evaluated by the editors.

The editors set up the general scope of the journal, and, together with the editorial board, defines its programme.

Time and modalities

The journal will follow the publication timeline hereunder as far as possible, and urges the authors and reviewers to stick to the deadlines of the phases that involve them. The editors might change the time and modalities of the peer review depending on individual situations, and might arrange different deadlines with authors and reviewers.

The ICC Journal respects the publication timeline shown below in managing the editorial workflow for the 'Essays' section:

  1. An initial editorial review, by at least one editor, with consequent rejection or peer review assignment (within 10 days of submission);

  2. Blind assignment to 2 reviewers on behalf of an editor;

  3. First round of review (within 8 weeks of the assignment);

  4. Notification to the author;

  5. Author's modifications of the paper subsequent to reviewer's evaluation (within 30 days);

  6. Evaluation of author's modifications made by the reviewers and final decision on the manuscript (within 15 days of receipt of the last version).

In the event of disagreement of the two reviewes, the editors will decide whether to publish or not the contribution, or to submit it to other reviewers.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Ethical Code


«Polythesis» is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, inspired by the code of ethics for publications developed by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. All the parties involved (directors, scientific committee, editorial staff, referees and authors) know and share the following ethical requirements.
 
Duties of Directors
 
Decisions on publication
 
The responsibility for deciding whether or not to publish the proposed articles lies with the editors of the journal, who can consult with the scientific committee and take into consideration the opinion of the referees. The directors are bound by the requirements of applicable laws regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
 
Correctness
 
The editors evaluate the articles proposed on the basis of their content without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, political orientation of the authors.
 
Confidentiality
 
The editors and all parties involved undertake not to disclose any information on a manuscript submitted for evaluation by the journal to anyone other than the corresponding author, referee, potential referee, editorial consultant or publisher.
 
Conflict of Interest and Disclosure
 
Unpublished materials contained in a manuscript sent must not be used without the express written consent of the author.
 
Duties of referees
 
Contribution to the editorial decision
 
The practice of peer review helps editors make editorial decisions and can help the author improve his or her text.
 
Respect of the times
 
The referee who does not feel adequate for the proposed task or who knows that he cannot meet the required deadlines is required to promptly notify the directors.
 
Confidentiality
 
The referee considers any text assigned to him for reading confidential. Therefore, he does not discuss it with other people without the explicit authorization of the directors.
 
Objectivity
 
Peer review must be conducted objectively and judgments must be adequately motivated. Any personal judgment on the author is inappropriate.
 
Indication of texts
 
The referee undertakes to accurately indicate the bibliographic details of fundamental works possibly neglected by the author and to report to the directors any similarities or overlapping of the text being read with other works known to him.
Conflict of Interest and Disclosure
Information obtained during the peer review process must be considered confidential and cannot be used for personal purposes.
 
Duties of the authors
 
Originality and plagiarism
 
Authors must guarantee the originality of their work and must always provide the correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned.
 
Multiple, repetitive and / or concurrent publications
 
The author should not repeat the same content that he has already published elsewhere nor simultaneously propose the same text in multiple publication sites.
Authorship of the work
 
The authorship of the work must be correctly attributed.
In the case of contributions written by several hands, the author who sends the text to the journal is required to declare that he has correctly indicated the names of all the other co-authors, that he has obtained their approval of the final version of the article and their consent. to publication in the journal.
 
Copyright
 
The authors retain the right to their works, granting the publication right to the magazine on a non-exclusive basis.
 
Errors in published articles
 
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his published work, he is required to promptly notify the editors.

Fee

The publication of an article in the journal is free of fees by the authors.
