Riassunto

Le lingue sono strumenti di comunicazione e sistemi di segni fissati arbitrariamente a livello sociale. Avversare o promuovere una lingua non ha dunque senso da un punto di vista scientifico. Il fatto che delle lingue possano essere sostenute o criticate riflette piuttosto una critica politica o sociale alla realtà che in quella lingua si esprime.

Abstract

Languages are arbitrarily structured communicative systems, shaped through usage by speakers. Therefore opposing or promoting languages has no real scientific meaning. Criticizing or supporting languages though can be instrumental in voicing political or social support to groups speaking those languages.
