The literary theories of autobiography, while capturing important aspects of this genre, do not allow us to clearly read its mixed reality of truth and fiction. This paper, starting from Zambrano’s aesthetic reflection and Bakhtin’s theoretical reflection, will show how it is possible to build a theory capable of accounting for both the reality and fictional aspects present in this genre of writing.
