Giving form to the text looking at the form of the painting. Italo Calvino and the Bona de Pisis’ assemblages
Assuming that Italo Calvino is an imagocentric writer, and considering his production of texts dedicated to visual art, with this contribution we intend to investigate the interest that the writer brings to the relationship between visible forms, tangible matter and (own) writing. In particular, in an in-depth analysis of the compositional process of Bona de Pisis’ textile assemblages, Calvino tries to compose his own text by modeling it based on the observed canvas. The ink and fabric thread hold the fragments of the world together, giving them a shape.
