Kaleidoscopic scenarios. Lights and colours in chivalric literature written in Old French
The statuary knight-horse junction is fixed in the medieval military imagination – with powerful diachronic reverberations – as an often prestigiously luminous and floridly coloured figuration. The combined historical, anthropological and literary investigation concerning the presence of colours and luminescences in the representations of the knight within the heroic narrative written in Old French, attempts to probe – or at least highlight – the exegetical importance of the semantic nuances inherent in the non-random association of colours and mounted warriors.
