Abstract

The rooms of the Antiquarium Statale of Numana were reorganised twice between 2018 and 2022. Both interventions aimed to enhance the exhibition’s appeal to visitors and to display newly available material from significant contexts within the local necropolises. Special attention was given to the “Tomba della Regina” of Sirolo-Numana, which underwent a new restoration campaign during the period between the two reconfigurations. This paper outlines the scholarly rationale behind the 2022 display, which seeks to balance the aesthetic appreciation of key masterpieces with the documentary value of more modest artefacts. Focus is placed on a contextual reading of the grave assemblage, highlighting objects that demonstrate Numana’s interregional connectivity. Several artefacts are presented here, either reinterpreted considering recent restorations or entirely unpublished, contributing to a deeper understanding of the tomb’s assemblage and reaffirming its importance as a source for the study of pre-Roman Italy.
