The paper aims to analyze the increasing political and military contacts
between the Ionian and Adriatic shores in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. In this complex
historical period, caracterized by power struggles among the Diadochi, the coastal area
of north-central Greece was involved in Cassander’s and Pyrrhus’ ambitions. Alongside
them, Agathocles, during the 4th century BC, had already structured a foothold in Illyria
and Corcyra with foundations and protectorates.
