Abstract

This contribution concerns a South-Picene graffito from Numana, containing
an already attested South-Picene term used as onomastic element. Its etymology is so
difficult to understand that it is possible only to attempt hypothetical readings. The text,
however, is of great importance as it enriches our knowledge of the South-Picene culture,
especially in the development of its alphabet, so far mainly attested in the northern territories
of the region up to the Roman time.
