La storia urbana è una risorsa importante per aiutare i giovani nella costruzione di un senso storico. In primo luogo, perché riesce a ben esemplificare le strette connessioni che esistono tra passato e presente. Poi, perché consente di sperimentare una pratica interdisciplinare di ricerca attraverso l’utilizzo di diverse metodologie e scale di analisi. Infine, perché favorisce un approccio globale allo studio del passato, evidenziando i limiti di una prospettiva eurocentrica. Questo articolo esamina alcune delle più recenti trasformazioni della storia urbana allo scopo di misurarne le potenzialità pedagogiche nelle attività didattiche e divulgative rivolte alle generazioni più giovani.
Urban history is an important resource to help young people develop a historical sense. Firstly, because it manages to exemplify well the close connections that exist between past and present. Then, because it allows to experiment with an interdisciplinary research practice through the use of different methodologies and analysis scales. Finally, because it favors a global approach in studying the past, highlighting the limits of an Eurocentric perspective. This article examines some of the most recent transformations in urban history in order to evaluate their pedagogical potential in educational activities aimed at younger generations.Riferimenti bibliografici
