La semantica del tempo nella riflessione di Carl Schmitt

Abstract

Il presente contributo intende soffermarsi sul concetto di tempo nell’opera schmittiana, ingiustamente sottovalutato dagli esegeti a vantaggio di quello di spazio legato al superamento dell’ormai vecchio concetto di Stato rispetto al nuovo Reich. In questa sede, cercheremo di prospettare un’ipotesi alternativa che cerca di ridimensionare questa consolidata visione. A tale scopo, si cercherà di rileggere il discorso schmittiano sulla temporalità e il suo tentativo di ancorarlo, da un lato, alla costruzione teorica di un pensatore a lui caro quale Donoso Cortés, e dall’altro, alla figura del katéchon che costituisce uno dei concetti più significativi della Weltanschauung teologico-politica schmittiana.

The aim of this essay is to analyse the concept of time in Carl Schmitt’s thought, frequently underestimated by the exegetes of the German legal philosopher. To this purpose, it will be attempted to propose an unconventional hypothesis in order to reconsider the consolidated approach of the centrality of the concept of space, i.e. the overcoming of the old concept of the State as compared to the new Reich. More specifically, we will try to bring to light the hidden Schmitt’s thesis on temporality and his attempt to anchor it, on the one hand, to the work of a thinker particularly dear to him, such as Donoso Cortés and, on the other hand, to the figure of katéchon, or rather, one of the most meaningful concepts of Schmitt’s theological-political Weltanschauung.
